Duarte fue miembro fundador de Estampa Popular de Córdoba. Posteriormente fundaría Equipo 57, pioneros del diseño industrial de autor en la España franquista. Durante unos años casi todos los fines de semana la familia Cortijo visitaba a los Duarte en Córdoba.
